DAV College Bathinda Organises Recreational Tour for B.Com and BBA Classes.
The Post-Graduate Department of Commerce of DAV College Bathinda organized a six days Dalhousie, Khajjiar, Mcleodganj, Dharamshala tour from 28th September 2024 to 3rd October 2024 to endow the students and the faculty members with learning and enriching experience. The tour was planned and coordinated through the College Student Council. The trip was flagged off by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg Vice-Principal and Registrar Dr. Satish Grover.
The tour began with a visit to Golden Temple of Amritsar which was followed by many scenic, adventurous and sacred destinations like St. John Church, St. Francis Church, Gandhi chowk, Subhash chowk, Kailash view Paragliding point (students and staff enjoyed paragliding), Khajjiar, Dainkund, Sunset point, Punjpulla waterfall, Bhagsu Nag Temple, Bhagsu waterfall, Dalai Lama Temple, Naddi View point, Dal Lake, HPCA Stadium Dharamshala etc. were explored. Adventurous activities like river crossing, zip lining, and indoor games witnessed the energy of the students at its utmost. The students expressed exhilaration at being a part of this tour which enhanced their knowledge about the places visited and perked up their learning capabilities. Around 60 students of B.Com and BBA accompanied by the faculty members, namely, Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Prof. Roop Singh and Ms. Sheenu (General Office) went on the tour.
The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the meticulous planning involved in organising this trip. He patted the students on their shoulders for maintaining decorum and discipline during the trip. Recreational Trips, he stated, form an integral part for the holistic development of the students and aid in enhancing the knowledge trajectories.

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce, DAV College Bathinda organized a one-day industrial visit to Mega Food Park, Punjab Agro Industries Corp. Ltd., Ludhiana (Punjab). A group of 40 students of B.B.A. and B.Com (Hons.) were accompanied by Prof. Vikas Katia, Dr. Kusum Gupta, Prof. Monika Bhatia and Prof. Neha Garg.Mr. H.K. Paul, GM, Mega Food Park received the students and the faculty members cordially. The food park is spread over 100 acres of land. The purpose of arranging for this mega park was to assist the private food processing businesses to grow through facilities like cold storage warehouse, liquid and solid waste management plants and other ancillary services.The AGM of Food Park, Mr. Siddharth gave a brief description of the facility and accompanied the students to three units. At first the students visited the cold storage plant, where the students had an interactive session regarding the working of the cold storage warehouse and associated costs and revenue. Second visit was to the Corn Silage plant, where the concerned manager addressed all the queries of the students. Final visit was made to the Banana Ripening Plant, where the students were acquainted with the information that such a plant can be set-up as a small scale unit with minimum capital.The Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Head, Department of Commerce Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg and the faculty members in organizing this industrial visit, which familiarized the students with the production process and management, marketing and human resource management practices in the food processing industry.

The Student Council of DAV College, Bathindaorganised a tour to Jaisalmer,Rajasthan for the students of B.Com and BBA. Tour commenced on September 29,2023 and was flagged off warmly by the Principal of the College, Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Prof.Parveen Kumar Garg,Vice Principal, and Dr.Satish Grover, Registrar.A group of 60 enthusiastic students under the guardianship of Prof.AmitK.Singla, Department of Commerce, Prof. Neha Sharma, Department of English and Prof.ManishaKalra , Department of Commerce visited the places of historical and geographical importance; Jaisalmer Fort, Patwon Ki Haveli, GadsisarLake,BadaBagh, Longewala Border, Tanot Mata Temple,Kuldhara Village, Jodhpur Mandore Garden and enjoyed some recreational moments during the Cultural Nights, Camping at Desert ,Camel Safari, Thar Jeep Safari arranged there.During their Homecoming ,the Principal of the College, Dr.Rajeev Kumar Sharma mentioned about the relevance of such refreshing tours to the places of historical importance which provide not only enlightening and adventurous experiences but are required for the holistic development of the students.He applauded the faculty members and the Student Council for their managemental and leadership Skills. Prof.Amit Kumar Singla shared some anecdotes of the tour and informed about the inquisitive attitude of the students during the tour.
DAV College Bathinda Organises Industrial Visit to “AB COT SPIN India Ltd.”

The Post Graduate Department of Commerce, DAV College Bathinda organized a one-day industrial trip to AB COT SPIN India Ltd., Jaito (Pujab) on April 15, 2023. Around 40 students of BBA and B.Com (Hons.) were accompanied by Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg, Prof. Vikas Katia, Dr. Kusum Gupta and Prof. Seema Rani.
Mr. Deepak Garg, MD, AB COT Spin India Ltd. gave a cordial reception to the students and the faculty members. At AB COT Spin India Ltd, the students learnt about the process of ginning, that is, removal of seeds and debris from cotton and how afterwards, the cotton fibers are compressed into bales to be sent to textiles mills. They also gained knowledge about the processes of pressing, spinning and weaving at the industry. The students inquired and solved their queries in discussion with the technical staff and managers. Mr. Deepak even discussed about the rules and regulations of recruitment policy and the students explored the possibility of summer internships.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the efforts of the Head, Department of Commerce Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg and the faculty members in organizing this industrial trip, which acquainted the students with the production process and management, marketing and human resource management practices. He emphasized on the importance of industrial exposure for students and motivated them to actively participate in such industrial visits organized by the college at regular intervals.
Department of Zoology, DAV College Bathinda Organises Educational Trip
The Department of Zoology, DAV College Bathinda organized an educational trip to Mahendra Chaudhary Zoological Park Chatt (Chattbir Zoo) SAS Nagar, Mohali, Chandigarh for the BSc. Students. Dr. Amandeep Kaur and Dr. Ranjeet Singh accompanied around 23 students. The students were shown around the park, a habitat for a vast variety of mammals, birds, and reptiles, like tiger, leopard, deer, crocodiles, bird aviary, dinosaur park, etc. They were excited to know about the Natural history museum and shown the exhibits of dioramas depicting early humans, dinosaur models, fossils and other geology specimens. They also visited the art gallery. On their return, the students thanked their college and the teachers for organizing this informative educational trip.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma stated that educational trips help students learn in an interactive way, which gets registered in their brains forever. He further added that DAV College, Bathinda therefore keeps organizing such trips to make students learn through innovative and immersive way. He also appreciated Dr. Amandeep Kaur and Dr. Ranjit Singh for organizing the trip.
DAV College Bathinda Organises Udaipur Kumbalgarh Tour for Students

The College Student Council of D.A.V College, Bathinda organized 6 days Udaipur-Kumbhalgarh tour for B. Com and BBA classes. The tour commenced on March 12, 2023 and lasted till March 17, 2023.
The tour was flagged of by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Registrar Dr. Satish Grover and the Vice Principal Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg.
As many as 57 students were taken on the tour, accompanied by 3 teachers, namely, Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Prof. Nidhi and Prof. Aanchal.
The tour team visited places such as Pichola Lake, Prabhav Celebrity Museum, Sahelion Ki Baadi, Neemachmata Temple, Fatehsagar, City Palace, Monsoon Palace, also known as SajjanGarh Palace, Kumbhalgarh Fort, the most important citadel in the Mewar region. The students and the faculty members enjoyed a mesmerising boat ride, learnt about rajasthani culture in the form of language, dresses and delicacies. They also gained a deep insight into the historical and geographical details of the forts and the mountain ranges. After a day long journey, the members rejuvenated themselves with a pool party and DJ night.
Prof. Amit Kumar Singla, Department of Commerce stated that the tour provided the students and the staff a refreshing, enlightening, adventurous, nostalgic and tremendous learning experience through visit to some of the prominent places of these destinations. He further added that the students behaved incredibly well and displayed and learnt a lot while enjoying.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma stated that such trips should be organised to provide students an opportunity to experience new avenues and works towards the holistic development of the students. He appreciated Prof. Amit Kumar Singla’s leadership and management skills and Student Council’s meticulousness for organising this educational trip.
DAV College Bathinda Organises Trip to Pushpa Gujral Science City

The Post Graduate Department of Chemistry of DAV College Bathinda organized an educational trip to Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala for the students of B.A, B.Com, B.Com (Hons.), B.SC. Med/Non Med., B.B.A and B.C.A-II. As many as 270 students were taken on the tour on November 29, 2022, accompanied by 10 faculty members. The trip was organised under the stewardship of Dr. Gurpreet Singh (Head, Department of Physics) and Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa (Head, Department of Chemistry).
The trip was organized to sensitize the students towards issues concerning degradation and purposeful utilization of technology to manage environmental issues. Dr. Barjinder Singh Bhalla (Principal, Scientific Officer (Scientist D), Pushpa Gujral Science City, Kapurthala) delivered a lecture on Environment Awareness and Sustainable Development. He introduced the students to the technique of Rain Water Harvesting and the use of FAB technology for sewage treatment. Students visited the plant and were acquainted with solid waste management and the climate changes occurring all over the world. A surge of excitement ran among the students on experiencing the flight simulations, space voyage, 3D movie showing the cures for various diseases and visiting the dinosaur park.
Dr. Gurpreet Singh and Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa stated that the objective behind organizing this educational trip was to help students gain a practical knowledge of the various concepts studied in classrooms. They also thanked the faculty members for their cooperation and teamwork. The faculty members accompanying the students were Dr. Paramjeet Kaur, Dr. Neha Jindal, Dr. Prabhjot Kaur, Prof. Neha Sharma, Prof. Amrinder Singh Panesar, Prof. Shamsher, Prof. Amit Sharma, and Prof. Ramandeep Singh.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma encouraged and cheered the students at the Science City. He appreciated the team work of the faculty members of various departments for meticulously organizing the trip. He said that such educational trips provide hands on knowledge and enhance the learning capabilities of the students.

The tour was planned and coordinated through the College Student Council. The trip was flagged off by the Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma, Prof. Parveen Kumar Garg (HoD Commerce), Registrar Dr. Satish Grover and the Staff Secretary Prof. Kuldeep Singh.

DAV College Bathinda Organises Field Trip to Bir Talab
The Department of Botany of DAV College Bathinda organized a field trip to Bir Talab Zoo, Bathinda for the students of B.Sc.III (Medical) as a part of the curriculum. The Head, Department of Botany Dr. Kriti Gupta accompanied the students.
The trip was organized to make the students learn about the flora and fauna of the region. Mrs. Rajwinder Kaur, Forest Range Officer, Bir Talab gave a detailed explanation of the medicinal plants like Bael. Arjuna, Amla, Reetha, Shikakai, etc., ornamental plants, namely, Cassia Fistula (Amaltas), Bougainvillea, Kachnar and several varieties of Cactus and Agave species. She also informed the students about the animal species, birds and mammals. The students expressed great exhilaration over experiencing learning blended with fun.
The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma appreciated the Department of Botany for organizing the trip. He said that such field trips enhance the learning capabilities of the students and motivate them to work towards the conservation of flora and fauna.
DAV College Bathinda Organises Trip to Book Fair (25 Nov 2022)
The Post Graduate Department of English in association with the Department of Library Science of DAV College Bathinda organized a one-day tour to the “Book Fair” at Punjabi University Patiala. To inculcate a love for reading and enlighten the students about the rich repository of writers and publishers, the Readers’ Club members were taken to the book fair. The students expressed their exhilaration at being given this opportunity to visit the fair and witness the wide variety of books, ranging from literature, science, religion, culinary skills and many more.
Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma stated that Book Fairs are festivals which infuse the readers hearts with joy and empower them with knowledge, creativity and learning. This trip was thus organized to let the students familiarize themselves with a wide variety of books and the rich world of authors. He appreciated the efforts of Dr. Satish Grover, Head, Department of English and Prof. Neha Sharma, Library Incharge for organizing this trip and accompanying the students. Dr. Neetu Purohit and Prof. Anita Rani also accompanied the students. The library staff members Mr. Anoop and Mr. Pritpal also escorted the faculty members and the students.
Educational Tour for DAV Students to Dhanaulti, Musoorie and Paonta Sahib
(April 29 to May 2, 2022)
With the objective of enhancing knowledge of the students about the rich culture of the country, DAV College Bathinda organized a four day (April 29 to May 2, 2022) educational tour to Dhanaulti, Musoorie and Paonta Sahib. 28 students of BA II and BA III went on the tour accompanied by the faculty members, namely, Prof. Roop Singh, Prof. Gursewak Singh and Prof. Karamjit Kaur.
The students visited places like Dhanaulti Camp, Mountain Valley Dhanaulti, Eco Park Dhanaulti, Mussoorie Mall Road, Kempty Falls and Paonta Sahib. The students were delighted with the spiritual and scenic beauty of these places. In the lap of the nature, the students and the faculty felt refreshed and relieved from the hustle and bustle of daily lives. A ‘Talent Hunt’ program was also organized during the trip, which brought to fore the latent talents of the students.
The visit was flagged off by the College Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma and Prof. Sandeep Bhatia, Head, Department of History. The students expressed their elation at being a part of this tour which gave them a fresh bout of energy and enhanced their learning capabilities.
DAV College Bathinda Organises Educational Trip to Gavya Milk Specialties Pvt .Ltd.

The Department of Chemistry under the DBT Star College Scheme organized an educational trip to Gavya Milk Specialties Pvt. Ltd, Amul Milk Co-Operative limited, Thamangarh on 28th April, 2022. Around 40 students of B.Sc. and MSc. under the supervision of the faculty members, namely, Dr. Paramjeet Kaur, Dr. Aanchal Ahujha and Prof. Chanderdeep Singh visited the Amul Milk Plant. Dr. Neha Jindal and Dr. Paramjeet Kaur coordinated the whole trip.
At the outset the students were shown presentation regarding the evolution and growth of Amul co-operative as a Brand. Thereafter, the students were given a practical demonstration about the different stages involved in milk and curd processing and were shown milk testing lab, packaging unit, milk pasteurzing unit and curd formation unit. The students also gained hands on knowledge about the different instruments, like, Gas chromatography and U.V for detection of impurities involved in it. Mr. Rajat Saini and Mr. Twinkle Bhugra of the organization coordinated with the students.
The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma thanked the Amul Milk Co-Operative limited for providing students with an opportunity to learn as to how unmatched quality is attained by state-of-the-art procedure in the most hygienic conditions. He also appreciated the Head, Department of Chemistry Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa, Prof. Aman Malhotra and Dr. Parveen Bala and other faculty members of the department for organizing this educational trip.
Ek Bharat Shreshath Bharat’ Club of DAV College Bathinda Organises Trip to Manali, Shri Manikaran Sahib and Kasol

The ‘Ek Bharat Shreshath Bharat’ Club of DAV College Bathinda, with a view to provide students an opportunity to enhance knowledge about the rich culture and diversity of the country, organized a four day trip to the state of Himachal Pradesh (April 22 – 26, 2022). The tour covered destinations of Manali, Manikaran Sahib, Rohtang and Kasol. As many as 48 students went on the tour, accompanied by four faculty members, namely, Prof. Kuldeep Singh, Prof. Nirmal, Prof. Rabia and Prof. Sukhdeep Kaur.
This provided the students an insight into the spiritual and scenic beauties of Nature. They visited various holy and natural sights of these places like Solang valley, Hadimba temple, Club House, Mall Road in Manali, hot springs in Manikaran, Atal Tunnel, Sissu Valley and were enraptured by the natural beauty of Kasol. The trip refreshed and rejuvenated the students and the faculty and gave them an opportunity to study the culture and heritage, thereby, history, traditions, indigenous literature of these historical and holy sites and at the same time indulge into recreational activities. A “Talent Hunt” was also organized which brought to fore the latent talent of the students.

DAV Students Attend Workshop on Bee-Keeping at Maan Makhi Farm

The Department of Chemistry under DBT Star College Scheme and NSS wing of DAV College Bathinda in collaboration with the Career Counselling and Placement Cell organized an educational trip for the students of B.Sc. Medical and Non- Medical to attend a workshop on Bee- Keeping at ‘Mann Makhi Farm, Tungwali’. The workshop was conducted by Sh. Gurcharan Singh Tungwali.
Around 60 students participated in the workshop and learnt about the lifecycles and categories of bees. A demonstration on bee-keeping was given on the occasion. The students were acquainted about various government schemes and grants for its rearing. They were also told about the various challenges faced by their organization and the techniques to overcome them. Information about allied job opportunities that could be created through bee keeping was imparted to the students and they were also encouraged to plan a start up program.
The teachers accompanying the students on this educational trip were Dr. Satish Grover, Prof. Meetu S. Wadhwa, Dr. Parveen Bala and Prof Aman Malhotra.
The Principal Dr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma commended the efforts of the NSS and the Career Counselling and Placement Cell in taking the students for the informative workshop. He exhorted the students to committedly learn from this profession the valuable traits of biodiversity, ecological conservation and bee welfare.
Trip to Manali, Shri Manikaran Sahib and Kasol for the Department of Commerce and Management Students of D.A.V. College, Bathinda (17.03.22- 21.03.22)
D.A.V. College Bathinda always believes in the holistic development of the students. Catering to this need, the college organized a five days tour (17.03.22- 21.03.22) to Manali, Manikaran and Kasol for the students of the M.Com and the students of B.Com. This provided them an insight into the spiritual and scenic beauties of Nature. They visited various holy and natural sights of these places like Solang valley, Hadimba temple, Club House, Mall Road in Manali, hot springs in Manikaran and the natural beauty of Kasol. DAV COLLEGE BATHINDA ORGANIZES AN INDUSTRIAL EXCURSION

Department of Physics, DAV College Bathinda, under the DBT STAR College scheme organized an industrial visit to P.P. Industries and Aggarwal Corrucrafts Pvt. Ltd, Bathinda on 18th February 2021. The one day trip was organized for students of all B.Sc. classes. Students were accompanied by all the teaching faculty of the Physics department.
P.P. Industries is a pioneer in devising transformers of all types. Students had the opportunity to witness manufacturing of commercial transformers, which they had only studied in the books. They were enthralled to learn that how much labour goes into manufacturing of each component of a transformer. The trip to the transform manufacturing unit was an exhaustive one, as students learnt rationale behind various specifications of a transformer. Mr. Sardool Singh, an instructor with 25 years’ experience had demonstrated and described all the sections of the industry. During a group photograph Mr. Mukesh Kumar, MD of the industry has described that this industry has been started by him in 1999. He distributed sweets (laddos) to students.
The second industry that visited by the students was Aggarwal Corrucrafts Pvt. Ltd. It is corrugated box factory. Students were excited to learn that how a single sheet of paper can be built into a box of much greater strength. The production manager acquainted the students with career opportunities in packaging industry after B.Sc. He described that IIP (Indian Institute of Packaging) offers two years’ diploma in packaging to science graduates. As per Mr. Manish Kumar, MD of this industry, students will get good jobs after completing the diploma from IIP.
The excursion was thoroughly enjoyed by 52 students. They had an opportunity for exposure to applications of science outside of their books.
